The Guadeloupe law requires that your wedding be published tens days prior to the date, in a document called Banns, but ensure that all your documents are correct before this is posted. The registrar office will contact you regarding the rules and regulation of wedding in Guadeloupe. They will also provide you with information concerning marriage licenses and certificates.

The documents are needed for both parties’ valid passport and birth certificate, both of you need to be in Guadeloupe at least two weeks prior the wedding date. Verification of your marital status and if either of you were married before or have a deceased spouse you are required to present a final decree of divorce or death certificate. If you are in Guadeloupe for a period of time a notary public or marriage officer will charge a small fee that may vary from person to person. You must be 18 years or older to get married in Guadeloupe.

These costs can range from US$20 to US$80. A medical certificate to include a blood test is required within three months of your date. All documents must be converted to the language of French.
