On your trip to discovering Jamaica’s second city, make sure you take a ride east of Montego Bay through the beautiful resort area of Rose Hall. Rose Hall is known for its lavish resorts, the famous “hip strip” and of course the magnificent Rose Hall Great House. The hip strip is the place that you’ll find many of Montego Bay’s or Mobay’s night clubs and entertainment spots.

Take a stroll along the strip where you will find the world famous Doctor’s Cave Beach, wonderful shopping malls, and the exciting Margaritaville Restaurant and Bar. Visit the Craft Market for Jamaican souvenirs, or drive through the busy downtown area where you will see many historical buildings and sites. At Richmond Hill, a little community nestled high above Montego Bay, you will be able to get a panoramic view of Montego Bay and its surroundings with its remarkable landscapes.

On the western end of the harbor, you’ll find the Montego Freeport which is been developed on the mangrove swamps of the Bogue Islands. In this area, you’ll find the deep water piers where cruise ships and freight unload from their trips.

Montego Bay also has the widest offer of hotels in Jamaica. These normally range from cheap bed and breakfast to the most exclusive and all inclusive resorts. Some of which offer world famous golf courses and some of the most beautiful, mesmerizing and exclusive beaches in Jamaica.

Just few miles east is the charming old town of Falmouth. This untouched area was once a bustling center of commerce and had many fine buildings. Today the community is well worth a look for its Georgian styled homes. Beyond Falmouth lies the Glistening Waters and the Luminous Lagoon (some people call it Oyster Bay). This bio radiant lagoon shimmers with microscopic organisms in the moonlight. When fish swim through the glowing waters, they leave a streak of light. Night boat rides on these sparkling waters are also available.

The Orange River Lodge is southeast of Montego Bay and is a 18th century sugar estate, and also a hiker’s paradise. This 980 acres landscape is situated in the hills that overlook the River Valley, and it features many camping facilities, as well as a wide range of activities to do like, hiking, and cycling to river bathing, swimming, canoeing and horseback riding.

The Rocklands Bird Sanctuary at Anchovy is just south of Montego Bay and boasts many exotic birds to include the Doctor hummingbirds, which is the national bird, and other species only found on the island. Journey east for about 5 miles and visit the Greenwood Great House is more than 200 years old. This house also houses a museum and contains one of Jamaica’s finest collections of antique furniture, musical instruments and maps.
