Jamaica Named 3rd Best Island in the World

Jamaica has been named the best Caribbean island and the third best island in the world according to Trip Advisor’s 2016 Travelers’ Choice Awards. This is a significant improvement for the island, which didn’t have a spot in last year’s top 10.

The island is increasingly popular with travelers who want to party hard, relax and eat well. As a result, the “land of wood and water” is famous for its idyllic golden beaches, shimmering blue water, stunning snorkeling spots and cuisine.

Your first order of business in Jamaica is to hit the dozens of picturesque coves and colorful beaches with black, white and golden sands, which make for a memorable visit.

Jamaica’s beautiful forests and magnificent landscapes feature prime hiking and bird watching opportunities. Or you can enjoy the sloping greens of the different golf clubs. History buffs can visit the heritage sites that are sprinkled all over the island, including those in Kingston, Trelawny, and St. James.

Next up, indulge in the duty-free shopping in between trips to the beach. Or just head on over to Ocho Rios or Montego Bay for a relaxing day at the spa to melt your stress away.

When it’s time to eat, the island has plenty of meat and seafood, including the much-beloved jerk chicken and pork, fried fish and bammy, fresh coconut water and all sorts of rum drinks. There are also several restaurants and sport-bars offering a blend of Caribbean favorites, such as conch and a variety of spicy dishes.

If you’re into clubbing and music — reggae and dancehall lovers, will love the authentic music and club scene across the island.
