Daily Escape: Dunns River

Located near Ocho Rios, Jamaica, Dunns River has been captivating the imagination of visitors for decades. The falls are one of the island’s top-grossing tourist attractions, which is not surprising since the water is refreshingly cool, and everything is shaded by the tall rainforest. Hiking Dunn’s River Falls is relatively easy, while the climb isn’t rigorous, it can be slippery. Exploring this Jamaican attraction means you will get to swim in or walk through several small lagoons that are interspersed among the vertical sections of the falls.

But the scenic appeal and fun doesn’t end there. Dunns River is one of those waterfalls that falls directly into the sea. Yeah, that’s right! The lowest tiers of these falls runs under a bridge and eventually join the warm turquoise waters of the Caribbean Sea. Please remember your aqua shoes, rubber-soled sneakers when climbing the falls. It’s also best if you leave your young kids when making the hike.

After hitting the falls, you can relax and swim in the pools or have some signature Jamaican Jerk at the cafeteria or at one of the restaurants in Ocho Rios. End your day with shopping or an exploration of the Ocho Rios area.
