Located in the lush natural beauty of the city of Pinar del Rio in western Vinales Valley, Gran Caverna de Santo Tomás is the largest cave system in Cuba.

Explore the total length of its eight different levels that divides into galleries of amusement. Your guided tour will take you to the best section of this wonder, as you walk through rustic nature. On your tour you will see many wonderful limestone creations in their natural state throughout the caves. Great Cavern of Santo Tomás boasts more than 29 miles of underground galleries spanning through fantastic limestone formations.

The Santo Tomás caves are situated about 138ft above the valley floor, where the glittering stalactites and stalagmites, underground lakes and vast caverns bring you to the natural state of this phenomenon. This massive underground maze is named after the river that crosses the Sierra Burn, with its erosive force has resulted in the many levels. Forming six overlaying floors of galleries which inter-connect with more than 50 caverns, you will be amazed by the details on the walls and in the holes of this wooded limestone cave.

The ground floor consists of the St. Thomas River and its stream of the Peñate, above is the stunning cave of the Hall; named after the 19th century locals who held great celebrations with their feasts and dances there. The higher level called cave Scarlet is one of the world's most beautiful caverns, with its red and white crystal formations. Enjoy looking at the top where the jagged stalactites lined the roof.
