Museo_Ignacio_Agramonte1The Museo Provincial General Ignacio Agramonte is a multi-purpose museum that houses collections ranging from archeological items to the fine arts. The museum also holds a natural history collection that features the flora and fauna of Cuba. Situated in Camagüey, this museum provides amazing exhibits ranging from the early 19th century to modern works.

The museum is located at Avenida de los Martires 2, and within its doors, the Ignacio Agramonte display stands out as the greatest model of this Camaguey provincial museum. Inaugurated on December 23 of 1955 in honor of the birth of Major General Ignacio Agramonte y Loynaz, this museum is where cultural artifacts are collected and preserved to be viewed by you. The museum has a collection of artifacts from 1920, which you will enjoy the different displays.

As you explore each magnificent collection of works by various artists of national and international reputation, you will see among them the works of Menocal, Romañach, Carlos Enriquez, Fidelio Ponce, Amelia Pelaez, Wifredo Lam, plus many others. Enter the Natural History Room to see the stuffed animals on display such as birds, insects, fish, reptiles, turtles, mammals, among others. While the exhibits of Cuban fauna are see among the displays.

Museo Provincial General Ignacio AgramonteThe Decorative Arts Hall shows a collection of furniture, sculptures and folk art, which represent the development of these arts from the 18th to 20th centuries. Step inside the Living Room of the museum to see the lovely courtyard that features a live sample of the flora of Cuba and other museum pieces. In the Transient Room, you will see various unique museum pieces which rotate according to historical dates.  

The Museo Provincial General Ignacio Agramonte also offers an exciting array of fun activities for you and family to enjoy. Activities such as Dreams and fantasies held on 2nd and 4th Saturdays, Music, memories and more held on 1st Saturdays, or Sublime Sunset held on 3rd Saturdays, just to name a few.

Museo Provincial General Ignacio Agramonte is open Monday 1 p.m. to 5 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday and Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., Friday 12 p.m. to 7 p.m., and Sunday 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. Price of admission is $2 for adults, and children under the age of 12 are free. Enjoy.
