World’s Best Island 2013: Ambergris Caye, Belize


Belize’s Ambergris Caye has received the Travelers’ Choice Award for the “world’s best island” from TripAdvisor. TripAdvisor’s Travelers’ Choice Award is based on millions of reviews and votes from travelers across the world. Ambergris Caye is Belize’s largest island and the main destination for travelers visiting this Caribbean nation.

The island has been the hub of Belize’s maritime trade for centuries, and it hovers in a vacation sweet spot that sweet enough for you to relax without tripping over tourists. Ambergris Caye has enough amenities to make your trip exciting and fun. San Pedro is Ambergris Caye’s main sun-and-fun destination and the only town on the island. The town’s downtown area is compact and features several small restaurants, hotels, dive shops, bars, cafes, souvenir shops and tour agencies.

San Pedro has a variety of things to do which makes Ambergris Caye the gateway to Belize.
